NetScout History

NetScout Systems was founded in 1984 and is now one of world's premier providers of network and application performance management technology and solutions. Today, NetScout serves thousands of customers around the globe. Headquartered in Westford, Massachusetts, NetScout has approximately 800 employees.

NetScout's first product was a standards-based Ethernet Probe, shipped in 1992. Since then, NetScout has led the market with a continual stream of industry firsts that have evolved into industry standards as well as the market's most comprehensive network performance management solution. In July, 2002, NetScout announced its strategy and vision for its comprehensive nGenius Solution which set the stage for a major change in the way that IT organizations manage the delivery of network services. Based on patent pending CDM (Common Data Model) Technology, NetScout has delivered a solution that reduces the number of tools required to manage network performance and leverages the most extensive performance information available. Since that time, NetScout has continued to expand through additional product solutions, most recently including the nGenius Analytics early warning system and the nGenius Application Fabric Monitor for combined real-time monitoring and streaming capture for deep forensics.

In November 2007, NetScout doubled its business by acquiring Network General and their Sniffer, Infinistream, and Network Intelligence product lines. By adding the definitive analysis power of Sniffer technologies to the real-time monitoring edge of the nGenius System, NetScout has put itself in position to substantially extend its leadership in building and delivering highly effective network and application performance management solutions.
